APO asks Naga groups not to harbor miscreants

Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): The Angami Public Organization today demanded that the Naga “political groups” rein in their cadres and not harbor “ruffians and miscreants.” The APO’s media cell reminded today that that most crimes in the state are now being ‘effected’ under the ‘shadow’ or in connivance with unprincipled individuals ‘in the banner of “Naga nationalism”’.
The APO strongly denounced the attempt to kill a retired government officer, Imtila Jamir by one Worshim ‘Ashim’ Tangkhul and an accomplice. “The act was too wicked and ignominious of such crimes to happen in our society particularly against women,” the APO hit on in the statement. The APO has urged the law-enforcing machineries to bring the assailants, who are still at large, to book.
“APO has been following the crimes committed in and around the state with a compunction note of most criminal acts being effected under the shadow or in connivance with unprincipled individuals in the banner of Naga nationalism,” the apex Angami tribal organization stated.
“The APO also makes a note to the various Naga political groups to rein in their members into a disciplined stride and not to harbor ruffians and miscreants,” the organization added.
In a related matter, another organization, the Angamimiapfu Mechu Krotho also condemned the criminal act. The organization denounced the “barbaric assassination bid” and demanded that the administration ‘immediately’ book the perpetrators of the crime and serve befitting punishment to the criminals involved whoever they may be. Such action would serve as a deterrent and prevent such ugly acts from occurring in the future, the Krotho stated in a note today.
The Angamimiapfu Mechu Krotho is grateful to God for protecting the life of Imtila Jamir and wishes speedy recovery to her.
