Members of the Angami Public Organization (APO) extended humanitarian assistance to Nagas of Myanmar who are presently taking shelter in Dimapur on November 11.

APO President, Razouvoto Chatsu said that the organisation has rendered small assistance to the families in Dimapur on humanitarian grounds keeping in mind the daily suffering the families were facing with lack of income and other amenities.

The problem they are facing right now is not going to be a month or year, but it is uncertain on how long the situation will continue like this. And until and unless situation improves, they cannot go back, he said. “With their families staying here and with no other sources of income, they are really suffering,” Chatsu said.

The affected families said that they are facing financial difficulties in terms of providing domestic and medical needs. Some of the families also have children who are attending schools. They further informed that they are surviving through the assistance and help provided by NGOs and voluntary organisations.

Over a year and a half since the military coup toppled the Aung San Suu Kyi led NLD government in Myanmar, refugees who crossed the border into Nagaland are also taking shelter in the border district of Noklak.
