APO welcomes AYO's initiative on environment

Kohima, October 2 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has “wholeheartedly” welcomed the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) initiative for a sustainable environment scheduled for October 5.

In exercise of this initiative – termed “A Moment of Solidarity to Enable Our Environment”, the AYO had called for all vehicles to remain off the road for the day and work with human driven energy “to enable our environment to recoup its vitality for human sustenance”. The AYO initiative will be in effect in Angami inhabited areas from 6 am to 6 pm on Wednesday.

The intend of the call is to create awareness to the people in the locality on air, land, and water pollutions which are already threatening the life of mankind and the earth- a reality which is already taking heavy toll in other parts of the world catastrophically, a press release from the APO stated.

Extending support for the initiative, APO stated that situations in some parts of the world are going from bad to worse. “Yet conditions are not irreversible and APO firmly believes that by rallying the people and the community around, to act judiciously on this matter, we have the power to limit the damage and reverse the situation for posterity to come hereafter,” the apex body of the Angamis stated.

Stating that the call is “not an imposition”, the APO insisted that the initiative was an “appeal” to the citizens in Angami areas to voluntarily come and extend solidarity “for a better tomorrow”.

"Rather than scanning people and the noble initiatives," the APO appealed to one and all to be positive and contribute "our little bits" to bequeath a better legacy for tomorrow.
