The Wokha-Merapani (Maratchu) Road which is the lifeline of the entire Wokha District has been cut-off for almost two weeks now owing to heavy landslide. The worst effect portion is in between Baghty and Bhandari where half a kilometre of the road has been completely sunk down. The effort given by the PWD department and the District Administration to restore the road is laudable. However, since it is a major landslide area giving problem throughout the year, leaving the work for repairing only to the district level will be inadequate. Hence, I urge the E-in-C Office to directly intervene and monitored round the clock as the said portion of the road needs re-alignment to make it permanently safe because the present sinking area even if restored, would hardly last for a month as the soil has become too loose to stay.
