•-My appreciation and thanks goes to the act of Parliament 1989 for establishment of a Central University in Nagaland. Now, we need to know what is mean by University.
It is an educational institution of advances learning and research conferring degrees. It is also a body of faculty and students including administrative, living quarters as well as facilities for research and teaching created to educate for life for profession and to grant/confer degrees. If the above definition is considered universal truth, then the university should prioritize its agenda by placing students and scholar’s career on top thereby conducting and conferring degrees in time, if university fails in this part, we are failed actor. Sometime I feel that students and scholars has become the ball of the game.
As a scholar, I wish to appeal to the university that all the scholars are not the faculty of the university nor the gazetted officers of the State Government who are not in urgent need of the degree for their new career but unemployed Scholars counts even a second/minute for our future.
I have submitted my Ph. D Thesis on 5th May 2009. Subsequently, the university has received recommendation probably in the month of January/February 2010 from two of my external examiners to confer me the degree, asking the university to do further needful procedure in this regard. But, I am still anxiously waiting for my day to come. It also pains me to mention that in the year 2010 I have missed two Central Government jobs which require Ph. D Degree. However, on the other hand, I am happy to learn that in regard of SEATM, the N.U stated, “The department will soon be producing the first batch of M.B.A of the University very shortly. Some of the students have already been placed in some companies and few more will be places in a couple of week’s time. (The Morung Express, 28th June 2010, Page 2). Whereas, the scholars gets 2-3 years to get degree after submission of thesis should be avoided in future.
Therefore, I fervently request the University to set aside all issues and have mercy on us in the name of God.
