Appeal to mitigate grievances left unattended for the past decade

Ali Imchen
Signal Basti, Dimapur

Dear DMC councilors, on the outset, a heartiest congratulation to all the elected councilors. With your committed manifestos and visions, the general public are looking-up upon you all to mitigate such grievances that have been neglected or unattended for the past decade or so, and to increase progressive actions in all key parameters, more so, taking into account of the recent declared Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index where Nagaland is considered worst performing state in India!

Apart from prioritising road construction, pavements n drainage system, how so giving preferences:

1)    To initiate to bring down degraded air quality by introducing eco-friendly projects and quality of civic amenities for the city in general.

2)    To curb the menace of water pollution, waste management and its fundamentals

3)    To undertake the drainage master plan for the whole of Dimapur city in general

4)    To make DMC a corruption free and a profitable corporate entity

5)    To check and keep prices of essential goods and commodities under control and regulated on a regular basis

6)    Constructions in collaboration with MNCs state -of-art shopping malls and hospitals, street lightings and Hi-tech digitalisation

7)    To create a balance city where all the residents participate in the local governance structure

8)    To strongly support and advocate practicable tenets in endorsing Inner Line Permits (ILP) in collaboration along with the concerned NGOs.

9)    To make Dimapur city a clean and tidy and a happy place to live in.

Above all, I may request these few steps again to elevate current trending in your “things to do” list on priority!

•    Kindly issue proper wearable gears to all the menial workers, don’t forget to install a unique sirens/horn in the garbage collection vehicle instead of a ‘football whistle’. How unsafe and unhygienic by putting those whistle in the mouth on all times while collecting garbage house to house! Have pity on those collectors/workers.

•    Kindly station large garbage collection carriers on strategic points in every ward.

•    Kindly do away with the ‘parking at your own risk’, parking tax of ‘hourly basis’, “parking area for customers only/employees only” Introduce reasonable rates and parking lot systems.

•    Introduce e-rickshaws to commute away from the main city

•    Installations of paver blocks in colony sub-lane routes.

•    Utilisation of funds in entirety n in transparency

•    Create recreation parks, amusement parks, urban spaces for joggers. Why have those many “unattended areas” that of ministry of Defence claimed lands, located in and around the city be left behind and unattended?

Since Dimapur is largely composed and incorporated areas with cadestral and non-cadestral, remember the allocations in matters to funds and developmental activities!

Dear councilors don’t ever forget that you’ve been “endorsed” to be representing your ward yet to shoulder the responsibilities and initiatives giving reference to common problems and solutions that the city is facing currently and to justify developmental works entirely for the whole of Dimapur, which we the public vehemently  expects with positive responses ahead. All the best.
