Application for non-communicable diseases data launched in Nagaland

Kohima, April 14 (MExN): Software solution for universal population based non-communicable diseases (NCDs) screening was launched at the Urban Primary Health Centre, Seikhazou Kohima on April 14. The application was officially launched by Dr. Meguosielie Kire, Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW).  

Dr. W Nchumbemo Ezung, Joint Director & SPO, NPCDCS DH&FW in the keynote address gave an overview on the concept of the new application. Universal Population based NCD Screening Management is a GoI initiative for prevention, control and screening of common NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes and common cancer – oral, breast and cervical under National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), NHM, informed a press release from State IEC Bureau, DH&FW.  

Implemented as a first step to roll out comprehensive primary health care services, population enumeration will be carried out by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) for all individuals above the age of 30 years for non-communicable diseases, it added.  

For implementation of the initiative, the GoI has developed software to capture the upstream, midstream and downstream data which will be filled in by health care workers who are trained on usage of the application. The new software application was launched in more than 150 districts of the country on April 14.  

UPHC Seikhazou and its sub-centres were identified prior to launching of the software. The first batch training of NCD screening software for ANMs under UPHC Seikhazou and 8 urban sub-centres was conducted on April 12. Very soon tablets will be made available to ANMs for filling up patient information, according to the release.  

Dr. Meguosielie Kire, Principal Director, DH&FW in his speech stressed on the importance of teamwork and urged that a very good teamwork among the ASHAs, nurses and doctors improves greatly in order to make the new exercise a grand success.  

The programme was also attended by Dr. Vizolie Sourhie, Director (FW), Dr. Rupert Pesieyie, DIO (CMO Kohima), Kelhouphilie Kire, D Khel Chairman, officials and staffs from the directorate and staffs from the UPHC.
