DIMAPUR, AUGUST 2 (MExN): The ten NPF MLAs supporting Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu’s leadership in a communiqué on Wednesday urged the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to issue a formal order recognizing Kuzholuzo Nienu as the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party.
It said the decision to appoint Kuzholuzo Nienu is the unanimous decision of the “legally valid representatives of the NPF party.” It contented that excluding the 20 expelled and 12 suspended NPF MLAs, the NPF party effectively has ten MLAs still within its fold.
The communiqué from the ten MLAs, namely P Longon, Kiyanelie Peseyie, Yitachu, R Tohanba, Chotisu Sazo, Kuzholuzo Nienu, CL John, Vikheho Swu, Torechu and N Thongwang Konyak, is in response to the letter issued by the Speaker on July 20, 2017 wherein it stated that “there is no record to prove that Kuzholuzo Nienu has been elected by more than one half of the members of the NPF Legislature Party.”
Out of the total strength of 46 NPF MLAs in the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the communiqué informed that 20 has been expelled and12 suspended for anti-party activities while it was contemplating disciplinary action against the 4 remaining MLAs.
“The NPF party has taken firm action against its legislators who have been disobedient and/or disloyal. Therefore, there is no question of any such expelled or suspended member being the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party,” it stated.
