Dimapur, Nov 28 (MExN): Interview-cleared ad-hoc government teachers under Longleng district are unhappy over non-inclusion of their names in the “genuine list” under DIS Longleng released by the Directorate of School Education. The teachers have appealed that the appointments be reconsidered rather than confusing and ‘mixing up’ the matter with the appointments of bogus appointees. Failure to address would “compel us to seek shelter under the law of the land”, the Ad-Hoc Teachers Association, Longleng warned.
A letter addressed to the Director of School Education, Kohima by the association through its President Imlionen and General Secretary A Bongshi informed that the teachers’ appointments as ad-hoc UGTs were made purely against existing vacancies “which is best known to you”. In view of this, respective candidates were duly forwarded by the competent officer, subsequently approved by the DSE and accepted by the Government of Nagaland.
“Following our appointment, the Government of Nagaland, Directorate of School Education issued advertisement No. 1/2003-04 dated 7th July, 2002, No.ED/EL/MISL/1/2002-03 EDS/(B)-2/2000 dated 4th June 2001, invited applications for filling up the vacancies held by us (ad-hoc appointees) which we also applied for and appeared in the open competition exam with much success” the letter stated. Following the examination conducted, the ad-hoc teachers were called for viva voce, appearing before “highly-placed” DSE agencies and district administrators, representing the Government of Nagaland. The association informed that almost all its members cleared the test and that their names, roll numbers etc., figured in the list of successful candidates released by the DSE with the rest of all DIS establishments in the state. After necessary office procedures and process towards appointment, the members were qualified as UGTs through the open competition. They continue to render services to the government while waiting for regularization order from the DSE Nagaland, Kohima.
“However, in spite of the facts mentioned above we are greatly pained and grieved not finding our names in the so-called genuine list of teachers under DIS Longleng released by the DSE. Following the recently unearthed corruption as such, we felt that instead of our right to claim for regularization of our service, our appointment itself is jeopardized by the scrupulous (sic) action in differentiating the genuine and bogus appointees thereby making us to run in panic” the letter lamented and demanded redress for the matter. Otherwise would invite “shelter under the law of the land” the association warned.
