Aqahuto Area GB’s Union responds to LVC statement

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The Aqahuto Area GB’s Union has condemned recent statements made by the Lamhai Village Council (LVC), Nagaland Zeliang People Organization (NZPO), and Lamhai People Organization (LPO) regarding the laying of the foundation stone for the establishment of the Aqahuto EAC HQ.

The union, in a press release, stated that the proposed site for the new headquarters is located within the jurisdiction of Zutovi village, under the Dhansiripar Sub-division of Chumoukedima District. “Lamhai Village, situated in Pren District, has no authority or relevance to this matter,” the Aqahuto Area GB’s Union stated. “Their interference is unwarranted and lacks basis.”

The union also criticized the Lamhai Village Council’s recent claims that “there is no area known as Aqahuto under the jurisdiction of Lamhai Village” and that there is “no recognized Sumi Village.” These statements, according to the Aqahuto Area GB’s Union, are intended to mislead and create discord. “Such claims are blatant lies designed to vilify the Sumi tribesman of Aqahuto,” it added.

The union reiterated the historical context of Sumi tribe migration. They pointed out that migration to the “Western Sema Block” began in the early 20th century under British colonial rule. This led to the establishment of Shokhuvi Village in 1926, Kiyevi Village in 1939, and Zutovi Village in 1948, all with appropriate approvals from British authorities. “The legality of the Sumi village under the Aqahuto Area is indisputable,” the union affirmed.

The union called for the Lamhai Village Council to cease its actions of “distorting facts” and to respect the historical and administrative realities of the region.
