Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended five armed NSCN (IM) cadres in illegal possession of weapons in Itangki, Athibung on March 26, stated a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The movement of armed cadre is in violation of agreed Ceasefire Ground Rules, the release maintained. The apprehended have been identified as Major Hanger Walling, Captain Nito Chishi, Lieut. Isak Sumi, Private Wishing Awoishinh, and Private Kheka Sumi. The recoveries included two 12 bore rifles, one .22 mm rifle, 16 live rounds of 12 bore rifle, 37 live rounds of .22 mm rifle and six detonators, the release stated. The apprehended along with the recovered items was handed over to Athibung Police Station for further investigation, it added.
In another incident, Tuensang battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended one person along with one .22 pistol with magazine, 14 live rounds and 31 SP capsules on March 26 on Tuensang–Kuthur road. He has been identified as Lieut. Kiu Khum (30) of NSCN (K). The AR troops had established Mobile Vehicle Check Post based on specific inputs about movement of NSCN (K) cadre along the road, informed a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The cadre along with the recovered items was handed over to Police Station, Tuensang for further investigation, the release said.
