
Dimapur, April 11 (MExN): 7 Assam Rifles apprehended one GPRN/NSCN cadre during an operation conducted in Pungro of Kiphire district on April 6. One pistol with magazine and 4 live rounds were recovered from the possession of the apprehended identified as Rolise (21), according to AR press release. The apprehended cadre along with the recovered weapon and ammunition was handed over to Kiphire Police Station for further investigation. Liquor worth Rs. 5 lakh seized In two separate incidents, Assam Rifles troops seized liquor worth around Rs. 5 lakh in Wokha and Peren districts recently. Troops of 28 Assam Rifles seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) being smuggled to Nagaland during a search operation at “Foot Hill Road Junction” in Wokha area on April 8. The liquor comprised of 1078 bottles of Mcdowell’s rum and 335 bottles of Officer’s Choice whisky worth Rs 3 lakh, AR informed in a press release. The liquor was found hidden in a Bolero which allegedly belonged to Nriea Humtsoe (24) and Yanrenthung Ngulie (35). Both the alleged owners of the liquor were handed over to Bhandari Police Station on April 8 and an FIR was lodged against the individuals at Bhandari Police Station, it added. In the other incident, troops of 36 Assam Rifles along with police representative recovered 1944 bottles of IMFL worth around Rs. 2 lakh from two vehicles on April 10 at Mhainamtsi in Peren district. Five persons were apprehended in this regard, AR informed. They have been identified as Amanto, Yangum, Mukaye, Chihile, and Hiliyale. According to the Assam Rifles, the apprehended persons revealed that they were involved in transportation of illegal liquor from Dimapur to Jalukie and Tening. The individuals along with the recovered items were handed over to Jalukie Police Station for further investigation, it added.
