Longleng, September 21 (MExN): 33 Assam Rifles with police representatives apprehended a Sergeant of NSCN (K) during a search operation at New Site, Mon Town on September 16. He was identified as Rongsen Temjen Ao (38).
“The cadre had infiltrated along with a group of armed NSCN (K) cadres into Nagaland and was tasked to carry out sabotage activities against Indian Security Forces,” alleged a press release from Assam Rifles. “The cadre has facilitated and coordinated movement of UGs across the border to carry out sabotage activities and inflict casualty on the Indian Security Forces and general public.” The apprehended cadre was handed over to the Mon Police Station on September 17, the release added.
In a separate incident, 44 Assam Rifles apprehended one Captain of FGN from Oushok village in Longleng district on September 19. A press release from Assam Rifles identified the cadre as B Chingi Phom (28), who had joined the group in 2006. “The apprehended cadre revealed that he was responsible for collecting illegal tax and extortion in Longleng district on behalf of the faction,” the release said.
One AK-47 Assault Rifle, three magazines and 48 rounds along with extortion slips with incriminating documents were recovered from the cadre, it was informed.
