
Longleng, February 1 (MExN): 31 Assam Rifles apprehended an FGN cadre from Tamlu Village, Longleng district on January 23. The cadre, according to a press release issued by Assam Rifles, has been identified as SS Lt Yongnyu Phom, who had been involved in extortion and tax collection. The cadre was in possession of arms and ammunition, extortion notes, vehicle tax receipts and letter pads of FGN when apprehended. He was handed over to Police Station, Longleng for further investigation, the note added.

to orphanage
18 Assam Rifles distributed furniture to Christian Servanthood Ministry Orphanage in Peren under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action Programme on January 28. The orphanage was provided with beds, tables, chairs, computer tables, book shelves and table lamps. A press release informed that 18 Assam Rifles also organised a free medical camp at Christian Servanthood Ministry Orphanage. 21 students and staff of the orphanage home were provided medical aid during the camp.
Free medical camp held
A free medical camp was organized by 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 6 Sector Assam Rifles on January 28 at Thekrezenoma village of Dimapur district under Op Sadbhavana programme. Medical aid was provided to 246 villagers by a medical team of Assam Rifles and free medicines were distributed to the locals. A friendly volley ball match was also played between the village team of Thekrezenoma and 37 Assam Rifles alongside the conduct of medical camp, informed Assam Rifles in a press release.
