AR captures ammo cache near Chedema village

Kohima, July 11 (MExN): The Assam Rifles (AR), on July 10, recovered a stash of assorted ammunitions near Chedema village under Kohima district, an official release said today. 

 

The press release from the Defence PRO, Kohima, informed that the ammunitions, including anti-tank grenades and mortal shells, were recovered when the AR troops launched an operation in the area “based on specific intelligence" input.

 

While stating that it was part of the "ongoing crackdown” operation, the release said that the AR troops recovered three 60mm mortar bombs, two M-60 anti-tank rifle grenades, 390 rounds of 7.62mm (sniper), 109 rounds of 7.62 mm (AK-47), 51 rounds of 7.62mm (pistol), three kilogram of PEK explosive and one AK-47 magazine.

 

The recovered ammunitions were handed over to the Kohima police, it added. The release did not specify whether the recovered items belong to any group or individual.

 

When contacted, the Kohima police said that it received an FIR from the AR around 4:00pm on July 10 in connection to recovery of ammunitions somewhere in Kohima and the recovered items were in its custody.
