AR celebrate World Health Day

Dimapur, April 12 (MExN): Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) celebrated World Health Day across the state of Nagaland on April 7. Various activities like medical camps, awareness lectures, and blood donation camps were organized as part of the celebration, according to a press release from Assam Rifles.  

Noklak: 15 Assam Rifles conducted lecture on health related issues in Noklak. A total of 40 students along with two teachers of Christian High School, Noklak attended the programme, wherein Captain Rohit Saddi discussed health related issues and emphasized on the importance of hygiene, informed the AR. The speaker also informed about measures to be taken against prevalent diseases and assured treatment for emergency cases at unit’s MI Room.  

Dimapur, Chumukedima, Jalukie, Tening: Various activities like lectures, cleanliness drive and medical camp for children and locals were organized in Dimapur, Chumukedima, Jalukie and Tening attended by 442 children and locals. Assam Rifles’ medical staff also provided treatment and medicines to 198 locals (60 males, 72 females and 66 children) of Tening and neighbouring villages.  

Tsiese Basa village: A lecture was conducted by 9 Assam Rifles on World Health Day at Tsiese Basa village, where 2IC Chongtham Satyaranjan, CMO informed about various lifestyle diseases and preventive measures. The CMO also discussed importance of basic health and hygiene for healthy living. In addition, basic knowledge on health education and precautions from common viral diseases was also imparted. Emphasis on importance of hygiene and sanitation were explained to the villagers for better lifestyle, the release from AR said.  

Mokokchung: In Mokokchung, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung by 44 Assam Rifles. Assistant Commandant Jubin Henry, Medical Officer of 44 Assam Rifles conducted the camp along with staff of the unit hospital and team of IMDH. The aim of this camp, according to AR, was to store blood in blood bank of IMDH for utilization by the needy people of the remote villages. 14 units of blood were donated by the 44 Assam Rifles personnel to the blood bank.  

Zunheboto: 5 Assam Rifles carried out a free medical checkup at Government Middle School, Zunheboto. The aim of the camp was to spread awareness and educate the school children about good health and well being, stated AR. A medical team led by Captain Abhishek Sharma, Regimental Medical Officer examined 186 school children and provided free medicines to the ailing students, it added.
