AR claims arrest of arms dealers

Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have claimed the arrests of two alleged arms dealers – one in Dimapur and the other in Kohima.  

The 41 Assam Rifles along with police representative launched an operation in Burma Camp, Dimapur on July 26 and apprehended an individual along with five grams of Brown Sugar and three extortion slips. A defence press release identified the apprehended individual as one Vihoyi Sumi, Secretary, Civil Wing, GPRN/NSCN and further claimed that he revealed his involvement in drug peddling and extortion activities in Dimapur Market. The accused along with the recovered items was handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.  

In a separate incident, the 9 AR launched an operation at Taxi Stand, BOC, Kohima on July 24 and apprehended an individual along with one .22 mm Pistol with magazine. He was identified as Thungen Khiamniungan, 24 years. The apprehended individual along with recovered items was handed over to Kohima (South) Police Station for further investigation.
