Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has conducted plantation week across Nagaland with the aim of contributing towards green Earth initiative.

A press release from IGAR North PRO, HQ IGAR (North) informed that during the same, as total of 15500 saplings planted at various locations of Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts.

In Mon and Tizit, the plantation drive was to make people aware about the importance of trees in our life and to save the endangered environment which is the most valuable gift of nature, it said. 

In Phek, it Assam Rifles undertook a Go Green initiative by planting 12000 trees on a single day in villages across the district.

The drives were held in coordination with various village council, government agencies, Schools, and Forest departments, it added,
