
Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): Battalions of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various civic activities in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh on December 16.
According to an official press release, the Mokokchung Battalion provided emergency medical aid to road accident victims near COB Tuli, under Mokokchung district.
The incident occurred due to an accelerator malfunction of a Civil Tata Truck and the vehicle got overturned near COB Tuli, it said. The troops of Assam Rifles acted swiftly and immediately rescued the driver and passengers. The victims were then brought to Company MI Room and provided necessary first aid. The quick initiative and life saving act by Mokokchung Battalion was highly appreciated by the local populace, the release stated.
Meanwhile, the Tuensang Battalion organised Christmas celebration at Noykhu Post, under Mon district, Nagaland with the aim to strengthen brotherhood with the local populace. This event was attended by 25 civilians including Village Council members of Menchengle and residents of Monyaksho, Longnan Basti and Lungshai Wangti, the release stated.
During the celebration, mass prayers were also offered by the guests for peace and tranquility in the AOR of Tuensang Battalion. The guests were highly appreciative of the efforts of Tuensang Battalion and thanked Noykhu post for inviting them for the Christmas celebration. This event was followed by drinks and lunch and the guests were presented Christmas gifts as token of thanks for their presence, according to the release.
In Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, the Longding Battalion organised an interaction with ex-servicemen as part Vijay Diwas celebrations at Kanubari town.
The interaction was aimed at honoring the brave hearts and ESM for their contribution towards service of the nation. ESM were adjured to encourage the young generation of Wanchos to work hard and crack the entrance exam to prestigious institutes like NDA, IMA and OTA and were also apprised about the Agniveer scheme. A documentary on the glorious victory in 1971 war was shown to the congregated veterans who expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for organising the event, the release stated.
