AR conducted veterinary camps across the state

Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): As a part of ‘Operation Sadbhavana Project’ for the financial year 2015-16, different unit of Assam Rifles organised veterinary camp across the state according to AR press reports received here.   Organised in conjunction with 14 Mobile Field Veterinary Hospital, the AR informed that the camp were organised with the objective of ensuring better medical assistance to the four-legged companions.

  In Bongkolong Village, under Peren District, more than 510 domestic animals were treated the camp organised by 18 Assam Rifles under aegis of 6 Sector Assam Rifles in association with 14 Mobile Field Veterinary Hospital on January 12.   A team of veterinarians screened the livestock for a range of diseases and administered vaccination and de-worming medication, it said adding that free veterinary medicines, vaccines and tonics were also distributed during the camp.   Another camp at Chukitong Village under Wokha District, was organised by 17 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 5 Sector Assam Rifles on January 12, where a total of 538 animals and pets were provided with medical aid by veterinary team. A free health check-up for local populace was also conducted by SMO and female medical staff of the unit alongside the camp where 67 patients including children, ladies and elders participated.   At Molvom Village under Dimapur District, the Camp was organised by 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 6 Sector Assam Rifles where approximately 200 locals encompassing twelve villages in the vicinity of village attended.   According to the AR press note, around 1200 animals including cattle, pigs, sheep/ goat, canines and poultry were checked during the camp. Free medicines were disbursed and animals/ birds were inoculated against common seasonal diseases, it added.   In all the camps, the Veterinary Doctor further gave tips on taking care of their domestic animals and winter care management of the livestock. Besides they were also given guidance on caring, breeding of domestic animals and to take up animal husbandry activities to augment their income.   The locals appreciated the initiative saying that it has provided much needed relief to their animals, especially in these extreme winters, the AR further maintained.
