AR conducts lectures for ‘youth empowerment’

Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): The 40 Assam Rifles organised a “Youth Empowerment Initiative Programme” and “Weapon Display” programme in Tuensang on July 22. A total of 230 students from Sao Chang Government College and Thangjam Government Higher Secondary School attended the programme.  

As part of the Youth Empowerment Initiative, the AR opened a Career Counseling Centre at Tuensang equipped with internet facility, library facility and coaching facility. The Centre will provide career guidance to the youth and make them aware about various competitive exams, a defence press release informed.  

A lecture on employment avenues and job opportunities in Nagaland was also taken up by officers of 40 AR at Tuensang Auditorium which was followed by a visit to the Counseling Centre.  

During the weapon display, various weapons and new generation equipment being used by the Assam Rifles were displayed. Students were also explained about various career options in the armed forces for both boys and girls through National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) as well on tech entry schemes and NCC, the AR informed.  

Meanwhile, the 41 AR conducted a lecture on the recruitment process for Army and Assam Rifles at Khonoma village. The event was attended by 70 youths alongwith the village GB and Chairman of the Khonoma Village Council.  

The aim behind the event was to motivate youths to join Armed Forces in order to wean them away from militancy and integrate them into national mainstream, a separate press release informed. During conduct of the event procedure of recruitment, eligibility criteria and service benefits applicable to armed forces were highlighted.
