Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, Director General of Assam Rifles, visited HQ IGAR (North) and ARTC&S, Sukhovi on June 1.

DIMAPUR, JUNE 1 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has conducted various activities related to COVID-19 awareness, youth empowerment and distribution of essential items across Nagaland.
A press release from the IGAR (N) informed that on June1, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, Director General of Assam Rifles, visited HQ IGAR (North) and ARTC&S, Sukhovi.
The Director General was briefed about the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and COVID-19 preparations of the formation.
The Director General complimented all ranks for their steadfast dedication and devotion to duty in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the State inspite of numerous challenges. He also lauded the resolve with which people friendly initiatives are being undertaken in the State of Nagaland to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Interaction with village functionaries
The Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) held an interaction with village functionaries of Chiphur village. As part of the interaction, Commandant Kiphire Battalion highlighted the need to follow lockdown instructions in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Interaction was also held with an Assam Rifles Ex-serviceman, a war veteran of 1962, 1965 & 1971 wars. His constructive role in the betterment of the village was appreciated.
Youth Empowerment
Further, as part of the initiative towards empowering the youth of Nagaland, Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) felicitated Chumliba R, student of Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire, for securing the first position in the overall merit for Nagaland State in Arts Stream in HSSLC.
Recognising his hardwork and perseverance in the accomplishment, Chumliba was felicitated by Commandant Kiphire AR Bn, with a certificate of appreciation & souvenirs.
Rations provided to Phom Baptist Church Association
Meanwhile, the Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles extended assistance to Phom Baptist Church Association (PBCA), Longleng on June 1.
The battalion also provided rations for the residents undergoing quarantine at the Yingli College and Lempong School quarantine facility.
