AR continue civic action programme

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): Various Battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) provided furniture, building materials and a toilet block in Longjang, Jalukie and Piphema respectively.  

33 Assam Rifles provided furniture to Government Middle School, Longjang on May 19. In another programme, 18 Assam Rifles provided CGI sheets, building materials and helped in the repair of Heraka Vidya Bharti School, Jalukie Town, which was badly damaged by storm on the night of May 18. 37 Assam Rifles constructed and dedicated a Toilet Block to Government High School at Piphema, Dimapur. The toilet block was constructed as part of Operation Sadbhavna for the financial year 2015-16.    

Medical camp in Wokha  

28 Assam Rifles organised a medical camp for the students of Englan High School located in Wokha district on May 24. A total of 137 students, including 63 girls and 2 special children, benefitted from the camp which was held to treat the students as well as educate them on health issues. The medical camp also provided free medicines. The students were given education on the importance of healthy routine, preventions from waterborne disease during the upcoming monsoon season.  

Medical camp in Zuketsa  

The 9 Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp on May 24 at Zuketsa village. The aim of the medical camp was to provide treatment to the local populace of Zuketsa village and adjoining areas, where requisite medical facilities are not available. A team of one doctor and six medical staff under 2IC Chongtham Satyaranjan conducted the medical camp and treated the patients besides distributing free medicines. 196 villagers, including 56 men, 77 women and 63 children, benefited from the camp. Basic health education on precaution from common diseases was imparted and importance of hygiene and sanitation were explained to the villagers. The 9 Assam Rifles also conducted free medical camp at ZAPO court, Zuketsa Town on May 24, where more than 200 patients from the area were treated and necessary medicines distributed free of cost. The AR team was welcomed by Sabou Krome, Vice-President of Zuketsa Area Public Organization (ZAPO) with the VCCs of 3 villages, namely Zapami, Lasumi and Leshemi village, and office bearers of Zuketsa Town Adhoc committee.
