AR evacuates blind students from Kakching

Kohima, May 18 (MExN): Tamenglong Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles received a distress call from District Administration and parents of blind Naga students of Haikakpokpi Mission Blind School, Kakching who were stranded at the school.   A update from the PRO (Defence), Kohima & Imphal stated that Rifle women of the Battalion coordinated with the local units of Assam Rifles enroute from Kakching to Imphal and played a significant role in evacuation of four blind students to include three girls and one boy.  These students were further evacuated to their home at Tamenglong and Noney by the Battalion on May 17. They were provided with food, medical assistance and other essential amenities.  “The students got back to their families hale and hearty and their parents thanked Assam Rifles wholeheartedly for their humanitarian action and for relieving the families of the anguish of separation from their children,” the PRO informed.
