AR hosts Yoga Week, local cuisine and weaves fair across Nagaland

Phek/Tuensang, June 2 (MExN): In a series of community-centric initiatives, the Assam Rifles conducted a week-long Yoga celebration in Phek and Meluri districts, and organised a “Local Cuisine & Weaves Fair” in Tuensang, promoting wellness and cultural heritage across Nagaland.

As a precursor to the International Day of Yoga, the Yoga Week celebrations drew participation from over 500 individuals, including Assam Rifles personnel and members of the local populace. Multiple yoga sessions and demonstrations were held, aimed at spreading awareness on the physical and mental health benefits of the ancient practice. The initiative underscored the Assam Rifles' commitment to holistic well-being and operational fitness, while fostering stronger ties with the local communities.

Meanwhile, under the banner of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the “Local Cuisine & Weaves Fair” in Tuensang showcased the state’s traditional crafts and culinary richness. The event featured 12 stalls set up by local artisans and entrepreneurs, displaying handlooms, clothing, dry fruits, decorative crafts, emporium products, regional delicacies, and children’s toys. The fair attracted more than 500 visitors, reflecting strong community engagement.
