Kohima, May 13 (MExN): In a bid to secure a better future for the youth of Nagaland, IGAR (N) under the aegis of DGAR has signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with corporate partner Axis Bank and training partner National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) to establish ‘Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC Centre of Excellence and Wellness’ at Chieswema in Nagaland.

The project has been conceptualised as a year-long fully residential coaching and mentoring facility for students from economically weaker and under privileged sections of Nagaland to prepare them for competitive examinations, an official release from PRO (Def) Kohima Lt Col Sumit K Sharma informed on Friday.

The project is expected to be fully functional for the first batch of 30 students by the first week of July 2022.

The MoU was signed by Brig Herjinder Singh, DIG, 5 Sector Assam Rifles, Dr Rohit Srivastava, CEO  NIEDO and Rudrapriyo Ray, Head Corporate Affairs, Axis Bank on May 13 at Headquarters IGAR (North), Kohima in the presence of Nagaland’s Minister of Tribal Affairs & Higher Education Temjen Imna Along and Maj General Vikas Lakhera, SM, IGAR (N), according to the release.

This programme will mentor and guide children and aid their future growth story as well as provide value-based education including soft skills training, critical life competencies, leadership training, personal conditioning, wellness programmes, vocational training, personality development, and end to end grooming to aid them in becoming a productive human resource for the nation, the release stated.

According to a report from the state DIPR, Minister Temjen Imna Along, who was the special guest at the function, described Captain (Late) N Kenguruse as a battle-worthy man and the epitome of nationalism, bravery, and a true Naga who laid down his life for his countrymen. He also added Captain (Late) N Kenguruse's image of bravery has depicted our true identity, for which, leaders of the nation have come to adore and honour us.

Congratulating the initiative of the MoU signing parties, he stated that ‘India is no longer the India of the past but is now robust and dynamic and that India is no longer the country that asks but now a country that gives.’ He also said Nagaland is now closer to the mainland than ever before in the history of our statehood today and now the North East is the heartbeat of the country, the DIPR reported.

Along also said since many of the young Naga men and women are well equipped in their own fields, he urged the Assam Rifles to also choose people according to their future dimension, skill, and strength in the days to come. He also urged the youth to enhance their skill and put their dreams into practice to build the nation, if they want to make Nagaland strong, dynamic and prosperous.
