Mon, March 22 (MExN): 35 Assam Rifles have installed a Cardamom Processing Plant (CPP) in Mon. The same was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) during his recent visit on March 16-17, informed a press release from Konyak Union president, Manlip Konyak and general secretary, Honang M Konyak.
While appreciating the 35 Assam Rifles and especially the DGAR for the project, KU stated that with the installation of the CPP worth Rs. 40 lakhs, about 2000 kg of cardamom could be dried in a cycle of 20 hours.
“Such project will ensure easy drying and processing system unlike those past manual processes. While reducing the involvement of middle men, poor farmers will have a direct access to the market. Such initiatives shall foster economic growth and better livelihood of the poor farmers,” KU added.
Meanwhile, the union directed the committee concerned to supervise the plant “ensuring utmost benefits and advantages judiciously to every hard working farmer.” While declaring the Cardamom Processing Plant to be the sole property of every farmer, it also appealed to all citizens to ensure that CPP is used judiciously and safeguarded by all.
