DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 20 (MExN): A serious allegation was made against AR operation at Mon on 12 Oct 11 and published in the local newspapers on 19 Oct 11, stated a press note issued by the IGAR (N). Issuing a rebuttal to the allegation made by the NSCN Khaplang the press note clarified that the operations were launched on receipt of specific information about the presence of NSCN (K) cadre hiding in a specific house.
The press note stated that despite denial by the occupants of the house of any warlike stores, careful search of the house in presence of family members resulted in recovery of one Pen Pistol, one Letter head of NSCN (K) faction, Extortion Cash Memos, two Mobile phones, one Mag Pouch, one Side Pouch, Resolution of GHQ Meeting in Nagamese language and one Camera Yashica.
“Recovery of warlike stores and extortion cash memos confirms that the individual was terrorising the locals and assisting other IIGs which is against the Cease Fire Ground Rules”, the press note claimed. “After the search of the house, the lady of the house was asked whether the AR troops had misbehaved. The same was refuted by the lady and she signed the No Objection Certificate”
It also claimed that the accused, Mr Ganpong Konyak, was in a completely inebriated state as against ‘sick and traumatized’ as claimed by the NSCN (K) in the article. “The article published by NSCN (K) on 19 Oct 11 for the operation carried out on 12 Oct 11 is certainly an afterthought and a propaganda campaign launched by vested interests against the successful operations carried out by AR in ensuring implementation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules”, the press note stated while adding that AR stood by its commitment as ‘Friends of the Hill People’ to ensure weapon and extortion free society and a peaceful environment in Nagaland.
