Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): The Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) has carried out various activities in the past week for the welfare of the public. A press note from AR informed that 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) installed Solar Street Lights and constructed Water Storage Tank (5000 ltrs) at Longkhim village. The 5 AR also constructed a Borewell at Meyiolong village under Tuensang district. All these were formally inaugurated and dedicated to the villagers by Col Sachit Suri, Commandant 5 AR on April 9, it said. Solar Lights, Borewell and Water Storage Tank will bring some relief to villagers by providing them potable drinking water in the village and brighten up the dark areas,it added. Meanwhile, 3 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) also distributed essential stationery items to Government School, Phesama village, Kohima on April 10. It undertaken with an aim to help the economically weak students and raise their morale for better learning, the AR informed in another press note. The items were handed over to the students in presence of Chairman, Village GB and General Secretaty of Phesama village, it said.
