
Dimapur, June1 (MExN): 7 Assam Rifles and 32 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) observed World No Tobacco Day in Kiphire and Dimapur respectively on May 31. In Kiphire, a lecture was given by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kiphire. The objective behind the programme was to create mass awakening in youth against side effects of tobacco products, AR said in a press release. Around 450 people, including youths of Kiphire Town, attended the lecture. 32 Assam Rifles celebrated the day at Padampukhuri village, Dimapur. “The aim of the event was to educate the villagers on various ill effects of tobacco consumption, preventive measures and benefits of quitting tobacco were highlighted,” a separate press release from AR said.
