
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): To mark the fervuor and festivity on the eve of Independence Day 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organized various function and competition at Machi, Bongyang and Larong in Chandel District. This was stated in a press note from IGAR PRO South.
On this occasion, painting and drawing competition was organised at Chandel, Machi and Pallel Post for school kids and Volley ball matches between troops and villagers at Larong, Bongyang and Machi area. They were presented with prizes and refreshment. The village chiefs and youth organisations thanked the Assam Rifles for their effort to bring harmony and peace in the society
A drawing competition was organized at Ukhrul Town post by 17 Assam Rifles 10 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) on 11 Aug 2011. A total of 70 students from 13 different schools of Ukhrul town participated in the competition which was held under two categories, namely juniors and seniors. The theme for the junior category was ‘United We Stand’ while for the seniors was ‘Glorious India’. The students were provided with all the necessary stationery items for the competition by Assam Rifles. Members of various social organization were also present during the competition. Second-in-Command of 17 Assam Rifles was the chief guest for the occasion and gave away prizes to the top 3 students in each category. The entire educational fraternity of the Ukhrul district expressed their gratitude and thanked Assam Rifles for organizing an interesting, competitive and educative event for the school students.
