AR pays homage to Subedar Tuk Bahadur on 19th death anniversary

The 24 Assam Rifles paid homage to Subedar Tuk Bahadur Pun on his 19th death anniversary on July 13.

LONGDING, JULY 13 (MExN): All ranks of the 24 Assam Rifles on Sunday paid homage to Subedar Tuk Bahadur Pun on his 19th death anniversary, honouring the soldier who laid down his life in a counter-insurgency operation at Moreh in 2007.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Battalion Headquarters, where the Commandant of 24 Assam Rifles led officers and jawans in paying tribute. Floral wreaths were laid with full military honours, followed by a two-minute silence in memory of the fallen soldier.

Subedar Pun, who hailed from Nepal, is remembered for his battlefield courage as well as his compassionate nature and dedication to his comrades. His act of valour continues to inspire soldiers of the Assam Rifles, a statement issued by the unit said.

Residents of Longding district also joined the observance, offering garlands and handwritten messages of gratitude. Many recalled his legacy of sacrifice, especially in a region that has witnessed prolonged unrest.

The gathering stood united in reaffirming their commitment to uphold the values of duty, honour, and sacrifice, expressing collective solidarity towards all fallen soldiers, the statement added.
