AR provide check-up to villagers, enlighten students on army recruitment

Phek, April 15 (MExN): Phek battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a free medical and check-up camp at remotely located Reguri village in Phek district on April 14.  

The aim of the medical camp, according to a press release from HQ IGAR (North), was to provide free medical treatment and check up to local populace of Reguri and neighbouring village who are devoid of requisite medical facilities.  

Free medicines were provided to the ailing patients, while the medical team also provided doorstep treatment by visiting the houses of elderly people who were too weak to attend the medical camp, it said.  

Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases and precautions was also imparted to the villagers.   A total of 162 men, 115 women and 59 children were treated during the camp, the release informed.  

The Phek battalion of Assam Rifles also conducted a career awareness lecture on ‘Join Armed Forces’ for the students of Government High School, Lephori village in Phek district on April 13.  

The lecture aimed to inform about various entry schemes available to join armed forces as officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and other ranks, said a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North).  

Emphasis was given on preparation techniques and study material required for competitive exams like National Defence Academy, Technical Entry Scheme etc. It also included details of various physical criteria and educational qualification required to apply for Havildar Clerk, Soldier GD, and Soldier Tradesmen.  

The lecture, which was attended by 92 students and 18 teachers of the school, ended with reply to the queries of students and teachers, the release added.
