Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): A raid, on September 9 in Dimapur, by the 24th Assam Rifles on the residence of a functionary in the “GPRN/NSCN” is flayed by the outfit. A note from the MIP said that the AR’s raid on the residence of one Medas Sangtam, “section officer” at Walford Colony in Dimapur by the 24th Assam Rifles “resembles more like the action of burglars than military men implementing ceasefire ground rules.”
Calling the raid “a deliberate violation” of the ceasefire ground rules, the “GPRN/NSCN” said the raid “was a meaningless exercise as the officer in question stays at the camp.” Also, the note said, the report of the PRO of IGAR (North) about the arrest of armed cadres is “completely fabricated.”
“Entire house was ransacked however nothing was found except few outdated papers belonging to the Sangtam region. The almirah inside the room was forcefully opened but no arms were recovered from the house, instead Rs.8, 500 meant to pay children’s school fees was taken away by the jawans,” the note alleged. It also alleged that the mother and another civilian in the house were forced to sign on a piece of paper and mental harassment caused on the family. The “GPRN/NSCN” has demanded that the Assam Rifles should return the money to the family.
