DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has refuted the allegations made by the GPRN/NSCN on December 16 in the local dailies over the arrest of its cadres at Naginimora under Mon district. PRO Assam Rifles, Kohima in a rejoinder informed that the AR troops conducted an operation near Naginimora village along with police representative on October 22, 2016 based on specific intelligence. Search of the area resulted in apprehension of four GPRN/NSCN cadres namely capt Wangyok, lieutenant Tanktao, corporal Khokam and lance corporal Mokem Tangjao along with two 9 mm pistol, four live rounds, extortion notes and mobiles with sim-card which was in violation of Cease Fire Ground Rules, the AR claimed. The apprehended cadres along with all recoveries were handed over to Naginimora Police Station. It therefore countered that the contention that the GPRN/NSCN cadres were not in possession of arms, ammunition and documents when apprehended by the AR is factually incorrect with the aim to mislead the public. Further, publication of the article after almost two months of the incident appears motivated to malign the image of AR, the press release also alleged.
