Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): In a rejoinder to the recent allegations made by NSCN/GPRN (Khango) against the 43 Assam Rifles regarding a raid on Ministry of Kilo (Home Affairs) of the group, the PRO, IGAR (North), Kohima said it was “unfounded and misleading.”
The PRO in a press release said that on the night of June 2-3, 2024, “on receipt of credible intelligence inputs of presence of large number of armed cadres”, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) operation was established on road Block V Junction-Thillixu on June 3. “During this bonafide operation, an individual attempted to evade inspection and fled from the scene. However he was intercepted for carrying out check based on suspicious behavior,” it claimed.
The search operations were conducted in strict accordance with established protocols, it stated. ‘On questioning, the individual identified himself to be a member of the faction and Secretary of NSCN/GPRN (Khango). Assam Rifles personnel followed all procedures and released individual following laid down protocols,’ the PRO added.
Reiterating that the statements against the Assam Rifles are totally baseless and unfounded, the AR reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its duties “lawfully and ethically. Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its commitment to execute its mandate within legal frameworks.”
