AR Sentinel’s of NE football tournament kicks off

Kohima, November 30 (MExN): The opening ceremony of Assam Rifles Sentinel’s of the North East Football Tournament was held today at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, 3 Mile, Dimapur. Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton was the chief guest at the event.

A press release from PRO (Defence), Kohima informed that 10 teams are taking part in the tournament and 4 matches will be played daily at 3 Mile and Sukhovi in the league format. 

Thereafter, top four teams will move to Shillong to take part in the Semi-finals and finals which will be conducted by HQ DGAR, it said. Each of the NE State is represented by a team. 

The tournament aims at identifying potential talent from the NE and to foster a sense of sportsmanship and friendship amongst the states as well as to promote peace and tranquillity in the region, it added. 

The opening ceremony featured with cultural events and a choreographed musical adaptation by the children of Assam Rifles Public School, Dimapur.
