AR spread awareness on evil of drugs

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): HQ IGAR (North) and its Battalions observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking on June 26. Activities including friendly football match, drawing and essay competition, rallies and awareness lectures were conducted across the state. AR press note informed that a total of 696 people including troops, families, students, and locals from neighbouring villages participated in the event.  

Phek: A ‘Run for Fun’ was organized at Battalion HQ where Six Officers, 26 Junior Commissioned Officers, 123 Other Ranks and 35 children participated. In another event ‘Poster Making Competition’ was organised at GMS Kanjang. The topic for the poster making competition was ‘Drug Abuse’ and a total of 48 students participated.  

Mokokchung: Mokokchung Battalion organised 3.5 Km Run at Battalion HQ and Drawing Competition at COB Changki. 40 Students and 09 teachers of GHS, Changki participated in the drawing competition on the theme of 'Marching ahead towards a Drug Free Nagaland’.  

Tuensang: Tuensang Battalion conducted a rally with an aim to generate awareness among the students about narcotics, drugs, tobacco, its addiction, ill effects and negative impact on physical and mental health of the individual as well as on the nation. 65 students, teachers and civil administration attended the event. The rally was conducted from Loyem Memorial Ground to Parade Ground. The students displayed banners and placards which depicted ill effects of drugs and also urged people to give up drugs and substance abuse. A drawing competition was also conducted for the students at Newman School, Tobu.  

Chieswema: Chieswema Battalion conducted a drawing competition with aim spread awareness about the ill effects of Drugs and to inculcate competitive spirit among the students. 21 youth from Pfutsero area participated in the event. The Battalion also organised a Friendly Football Match between Chizami Football Club and Eastern Mission High School Football Club at Sumi local ground, Chizami Town.
