Khonoma, June 16: Stepping up its pressure on armed Naga underground cadres, the Assam Rifles today reiterated that it would start initiating strong action, if the former continues to perpetrate trouble in civilian-inhabited areas.

In what they called a “stern message”, Col. Ashish Das, Media Officer, speaking on behalf of IGAR Maj. SS. Kumar at the interactive session with the Semoma Student’s Union, Khonoma village, said that the Assam Rifle detest the way armed underground cadres are creating trouble in the civilian areas through factional clashes.

“We have sent a stern message to the underground cadres. If they continue to create trouble we will take a strong action”, Col. Das said. Making an appeal to the Khonoma villagers to resist factional conflicts in the civilian areas and deter any trouble, the Assam Rifles assured  that they will work for peace and prosperity in Nagaland.

Reminding that violence is not good for the public, Das further asserted that “without peace there can’t be any development”.
“Please keep trouble away from your areas, it is not for public good”, Das said.  The AR also assured  that they are all out for peace and development of Nagaland, and informed  of  many developmental packages to that effect.

“We are only a medium. The money is mean for Nagaland. Make use of it”, Col. Ashish Das said, speaking on behalf of the IGAR, Maj. Gen. SS Kumar.
