Are you satisfied with the planning and performance of Hornbill festival 2011?

Some of those who voted  YES had this to say:
•    Great job! but definitely could have been done better
•    The Hornbill festival can become a festival for Nagas to really shine and bring out the best of their cultural and traditional heritage. The Hornbill festival can actually do wonders. It can be the uniting factor in bringing all Nagas together to participate in this grand festival. It is surprising that the NPF government has so far not invited Nagas from Myanmar, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Assam to come and be part of the Hornbill festival as Naga brothers. Rio has spoken many times of emotional integration, but what about cultural integration also. The Hornbill festival can be a platform for cultural integration.
•    Cheers!!! hornbill every year...dis is tourism...dis year's tourists are plenty...kip going
•    Yes. But 7 days is too long. Make it 3 days and it will be more well received.
•    I am a tourist from overseas coming for the first time to Nagaland Hornbill festival. It is really fascinating and remarkable. The Nagas are a proud people and their art and way of living comes out in the dances, songs and depictions in the Kisama Village. I also see a lot of extremes. There is one side of the Hornbill festival which is only for the rich people and there is the other side which is for the poor people. This shows there is a wide gap between the rich and the poor, between the political elites and the people. I wish Nagaland will prosper for the entire society. Let the Hornbill be for the whole Nagaland.
•    Yes, Tourism Industry is really growing. This year i see growth in both Foreign n Domestic Touritst. The 'Hornbill Rally has a prize money of 5lacs. why don't the govt. organise a 'Sei bagei' race with prize money amounting 2 a few lakhs. Prize for the best cultural troupe, prize for the most innovative cultural dress, prize for the best maintained morung throughout the year and so on...
•    The events in Kisama village are good and worthy. It really represents the Nagas in their glory. However I am not sure of the other events that are being organized elsewhere. It may be better to get everything located within Kisama itself.
•    Yes! 100% yes. Come on. Please don’t against this development festival. Festival for development, development for festival.
•    Yes of course in terms of satisfaction but rupees 10 should be ten not 30.
•    yes very much... im fully satisfied. thanks to the tireless efforts of the organizers, government, police personals, volunteers, locals and tourist, it is a success.
•    As long as the rich and unique diverse indigenous cultures and traditions of Nagas find Hornbill festival as one of the ideal platforms for showcasing, promoting and preserving the identity of Naga people. As long as through this annual mega event can become a stepping stone to break the shackles of isms well-ingrained in the psyche of Nagas. Last but not the least, as long as Nagas see Kisama as the catalyst for strengthening the socio-cultural bondage among the fellow tribes by bringing us all together closer for common purpose and also so long as the grand indigenous show and display at the Naga Heritage Complex Centre as really loved and fascinated by tourist and delegates alike, then the multifaceted and flamboyant indigenous show must go on inspite of skepticism and negativism surrounding Kisama by adding and introducing more interesting and exciting variety into this remarkable annual event which will be the signature of the land of festivals.

Some of those who voted NO  had this to say:
•    Whats the big deal in showcasing nagas culture to the world. Infact, the inflow of tourist is not bcos of fabulous nagas, but out of curiosity. They think we still live in primitive cave loke lifestyle, with half naked men n women, with sabers /machetes hunting for other peoples head. The present Govt should do away with the Festival. Infact, what about once in 3 or 5 years .That way, ppl will have more vigor.
•    No, the same cultural regale every year...
•    traffic is chaotic torture to not only nagas but tourists. reports of  higher tax on foreign tourists very shameful. entry fee should be nominal. night bazaar
•    the moto rally noise pollution is hazardous to public health and safety. race course away from populated area would be just great
•    The delegates who are being invited to join the festival should be properly taken care including picking them up in the airport, especially, if they were foreigners
•    No, more money does not mean a better festival. The Hornbill festival is getting more commercialized and so some of the original ideas are getting lost. Nothing wrong, if it is meant to improve the festival. But at the moment it does not seem to be going that way. There is too much of interference from politicians and so most of the items in Hornbill are based on personal taste, whimps and fancies. There must be an independent selection process so that only the top acts are let through to the Hornbill festival. The organizers must really come up with a better concept for the Hornbill Festival and implement it with professionalism. In its present format, the Hornbill festival scattered all around and it seems there is too many politicians, bureaucrats with too many ideas and no focus. It has great potential to become a great event, but it needs a much better concept and execution of the plan.
•    What performance are we going to debate upon? Here in these case, Horn Bill Festival is all about drinking spending away the money of nagas.
•    NO, only fashion cant let naga forward
•    I know who else have profited from the festivals. Everything comes with a price n those in higher seats have become rich again with the festival plans n schemes. God only knows how much they have swindled the state exchequer.
•    No, 2 cores is just wastage of money....better use the money spend in infrastructure.
•    M_Fest Module is better...
•    I think people are going to get tired and bored. For a tourist that comes from Japan or one of the European countries, I think after the first 3 days, there is really nothing new. It gets monotonous. A new line up of events is required. Its been the same for the past years ever since its inception.
•    Free Condom Venting machines must be installed at Strategic locations to check unwanted population growth
•    NOT anymore - the festival was started to promote & preserve our Culture but now its more of promoting foreign culture & life style. When the govt doesn't encourage our cultural, how can we preserve & promote it? Tourist comes only to see our culture. The govt. spends more of the fund/money on the modernized programs with big prize money like Rock concerts, fashion show, car rally and all useless hi fi events. So who would want to dress up in traditional attire stand, sing or dance whole day in Kisama for a 100-300 bucks a day or less or even non in the cold winter? There should be competition of cultural songs, sports & dances with the best prize money during the festival, if NOT after few years Kisama will be filled with Korean, thais, japs, Americans etc. There should be a good Selection Board so that the best group/individual are selected to host the various programs of the Hornbill event. At present most of the organisers are selected only through favoritism which is the main cause of the event getting more bored and more wastage of fund.
•    Absolutely BIG NO should be FEAST OF EVIL instead of FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS!
•    I suppose, the festival becomes a four yr festivals just like the olympics. If such a big games can wait 4 yrs between games, whats the big deal about horn bill? Btw, have any nagas ever seen a real, live horn Bill with his eyes.
•    The organizing is far from satisfactory. Thankfully the cultural dances, the colors and vibrancy of the different Naga tribes, the food and the dances are keeping Hornbill distinct and attracting a lot of foreign tourist. On the other hand, the Ball, Fashion shows, Rock Concerts, a group of Officers performing and the World War II rally is watering the Hornbill festival into a comical festival. Hornbill should remain distinctively cultural and this will get a lot of tourist to Nagaland. The other half of entertainment (ball, rock shows, etc) should not be part of the Hornbill, if the government wants to do it, than do it some other time of the year, but not during Hornbill.
•    No…I always had better plans and expectations for Hornbill. It never turns out the way I expect…of course there are some new inputs but we could have done more and much better. Sad we Nagas are giving away to corruption if any chance be given. We Nagas are soo negligent at the same time soo opportunist.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    I hope such festival will not promote sex tourism like in Thailand etc. Lets be cautious otherwise it may promote further social maniac in the future.
•    It should be held every 5 years. It is becoming a routine n its loosing the zing thing..
•    It is losing its charm. There are too many stall and so due justice is not done. Maybe the department should screen and have ceiling on how many events to hold every year instead of dolling out too many events during the Hornbill. An overdose of everything is not good. The right dose always hits the right high and so the organizers of the Hornbill festival should be able to measure the right dosage of programs and events. Next year the number of programs should be reduced to get the right balance.
•    The outer planning will always be good... thats the way of our GOVT..
•    Im wondering this year Accommodation for the cultural troupe?????? i was a participant last year... and i can say that everything (Food, lodging... ) was awful,....
•    Must give some privilege to the poor children in the name of hornbill festival.
•    Like the idea of better infrastructure but dont believe its total wastage of money on the festival
•    I don't about how the program is going on.. but are the people are aware of this wonderful program that reflects the true culture? How about the promotion? I myself did not come across any add that would talk about the Hornbill 2011 fest. If any thing happens in Delhi the whole world knows about it, but if something useful is going on Kohima then why the rest of the world is unaware? I think in order to remove the gap between communities we are widening the gaps and hence promoting discrimination further more. Please let the country know about it.
