Armed Forces Veterans’ Day marked with medical outreach for veterans in Dimapur

Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): Marking the 78th Army Day and following the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army organised a comprehensive multi-speciality medical camp at Dimapur on January 15 as a gesture of gratitude and commitment to its veteran community.

The camp was organised to address the healthcare needs of veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents residing in Dimapur and adjoining districts of the North Eastern region.

Acknowledging the difficulties faced by elderly veterans in accessing specialised healthcare, the Indian Army deployed a dedicated team of medical professionals to provide doorstep clinical assistance.

The medical team comprised specialists who offered a wide range of services. A medical specialist conducted screening and management of chronic geriatric conditions, including hypertension and diabetes.

An obstetrics and gynaecology specialist provided maternal and reproductive health consultations for spouses, while two medical officers handled general outpatient department services and primary health triage. Dental services, including oral health check-ups and basic procedures, were also provided.

Apart from clinical treatment, the camp laid emphasis on preventive healthcare, with guidance on lifestyle modification for senior citizens.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with hundreds of veterans and their family members availing themselves of the services. Local veterans’ associations expressed appreciation for the Indian Army’s continued efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of the ex-servicemen community in Nagaland.
