Army occupied land being encroached: landowners

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): The landowners and pattadars whose lands are being occupied by the army in Dimapur town, have written to the Nagaland Chief Minister informing that their lands are being encroached.

A representation from the landowners and pattadars said that encroachment of land under army occupation has been taking place. Therefore, the landowners and pattadars had resolved to build temporary fencings. It alleged that the Dimapur district administration and defence authorities have “failed” to provide full protection to the lands concerned.

It said that, as per RTI replies which were received on October 20, the joint survey maps of army occupied land done in 2019 is yet to be approved and signed by the Board of Proceeding. Meanwhile, as per RTI information received in October 2019, a total land area of 75.345 acres in various pockets of Dimapur is under army occupation.

“The landowners have been fighting for their land for so long. Therefore, we wish the district administration and concerned authorities to finalise this matter and hand over thelands at the earliest,” it appealed.
