Around 140 families displaced in Thahekhu

Around 140 houses in Thahekhu village have been either partially or fully submerged displacing the families owing to incessant rains during the past few days. The affected areas include Thahekhu Blocks 3, 4 and 7.


This was informed by Chairman of Thahekhu Village Council, I Khekuto Yeptho on Sunday. He also informed that the flood had severely affected the area this year leading to submerging of a bridge that connects Rangapahar Rail Crossing to Sangtamtilla. A hanging bridge that connects Thahekhu village to Thahekhu Block 7 has also been washed away besides destroying livestock and plantations. Government Primary School, Thahekhu Block 7 has also been fully submerged, the Chairman informed. 


It was reported that around four vehicles also remained submerged in water. ADC Dimapur, Lovitoly inspected the flooded areas on Sunday.
