ARTC&S organizes weekly medical OPD in Shokhuvi

Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): The Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) started a ‘weekly medical OPD’ from June 29 at Shokhuvi village.
A press release from Anshul Sundriyal, Major Officiating SO-1 (Edn) for Comdt stated the medical OPD services are being made available every Saturday from 09:00am to 1:00pm, as part of the effort to make basic healthcare accessible at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Shokhuvi.


The medical OPD was inaugurated by Brigadier Arjun Segan, SM**, DIG ARTC&S in the presence of Gaon Buras, veterans, patients and villagers.
The team of Doctors and paramedical staff treated a total of 62 persons on the inaugural day and provided free medical checkup and medicines on the spot.


The release also mentioned that the Assam Rifles medical team led by Commandant (Dr) Aguina Nsarangbe, Chief Medical Officer of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, aims to provide needed medical support to the neighboring villages in the weekly OPD outreach. “Health and hygiene awareness” is a major component of this initiative where in, people are being educated about prevention of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Malaria, Water-Borne diseases, Hygiene and Sanitation, it added.


The village people, GBs nearby villages as well as the civil administration appreciated the gesture of the Assam Rifles for the weekly medical OPD as a befitting symbol of their motto of being “Friends Of The North East,” the release added.


The Assam Rifles in its continuous efforts to reach out to the locals, especially the “medically deprived sections” of the nearby villages of Shokhuvi, Kiyeto, Pimla, Disagaphu and Shitovi in Dimapur initiated the move.
