Tuensang, February 11 (MExN): The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, along with the MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Dimapur, on February 11 organised a one-day awareness workshop under the PM Vishwakarma scheme at the DRDA Conference Hall, Tuensang.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce and the District Industries Centre (DIC), Tuensang.
Inspector, DIC Tuensang, Thungdi Chang informed artisans about various credit schemes under the Ministry of MSME as well as schemes of the state government. He urged participants to make use of the information shared and to seek assistance through DIC Tuensang for necessary support.
Highlighting the PM Vishwakarma scheme, Chang said it is a Central Sector Scheme aimed at organising and empowering traditional artisans and craftsmen across the country, collectively referred to as Vishwakarmas.
The scheme seeks to support those engaged in 18 traditional trades such as carpentry, basket weaving and blacksmith, which are deeply rooted in India’s cultural and occupational heritage, he said.
The welcome address was delivered by Khumchopi Sangtam, Functional Manager, DIC Tuensang. The programme also featured an interactive session led by Auching Sonla, Area Coordinator, National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), while Tovito, Field Officer, State Bank of India (SBI), Tuensang, made a presentation on the loan component under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
