ASA 50th Meet ends: Neikerhezo lifts Naga wrestling junior category

Neikerhezo Zhünyü today emerged the champion title of the junior category of Naga wrestling event at the 50th Meet of Angami Sports Association (ASA) which concluded here today.

Zhünyü from Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) fetched a cash prize of Rs 40,000. Adding feather to his cap, Zhünyü has been declared as the ‘Best Tactic’ and awarded with Rs 5,000.

Runner up Menuolelie Chüpuo from Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) received Rs 30,000. Seyievizo Metha of NASA and Kevizetuo Kuotsu (WAYO) received Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 for winning third and fourth position respectively.

Quarterfinalist Menuovilie Lhoungu (NASA), Ketouselie Miasalhou (WAYO), Kevisoneiu Üsou (NASA) and Rüdilhou Sote (NASA) received Rs. 5,000 each.

With the culmination of the six day long ASA 50th meet today , NASA emerged as the overall champions for winning 27 gold, 31 silver and 12 bronze while Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) stood second position with 11 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.  WAYO placed in the third position with 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze while Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO) in the fourth place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

In Folk tune competition, WAYO emerged the first position while SASA and NASA stood second and third place respectively. In the war cry competition, SASA won first position while CYO and WAYO bagged second and third. In the traditional trumpet blowing competition, NASA emerged as the winner.

Earlier, MLA Khriehu Liezietsu graced the wrestling event as the guest of honour and gave away prize to the winners.

The valedictory function was chaired by ASA general secretary Er Seyielhouvi Nagi while vote of thanks was proposed by ASA joint secretary Keneilel Rote. Lowering of ASA flag was led by ASA games secretary Kelhouneisa Khezhie.
