Assam flood: IRCS Nagaland Branch appeals for donations 

Kohima, June 29 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch has appealed to Red Cross members and well-wishers to contribute towards providing relief for people affected by the floods in Assam.

In an appeal on Wednesday, Dr Neiphi Kire, General Secretary of IRCS Nagaland State Branch stated that the floods in Assam has affected over 22 lakh people in 28 districts of Assam and the death toll has risen to 128 and counting. 

“It is a matter of serious concern as this devastation continues unabated and the people are facing untold misery and suffering with loss of lives including wild life, besides huge damage of properties and vegetation,” it said.

Stating that many towns and villages have been submerged in water for over a week, it further stated that the administration is struggling to reach the victims with water, food and essential items. The current situation continues to remain grim, it said, while adding that “this is the time to help our neighbours.”
