Assam Power Minister Phukan attends UCO Bank MSME, Retail and Agriculture Carnival

Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan and UCO Bank Deputy General Manager Chinmay Kumar Sahu on August 25 participated in the bank’s Resource, MSME, Retail and Agriculture Carnival held in Dibrugarh city.

DIBRUGARH, AUGUST 27 (MExN): Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan and UCO Bank Deputy General Manager (Head Office, Kolkata) Chinmay Kumar Sahu on August 25 participated in the bank’s Resource, MSME, Retail and Agriculture Carnival held in Dibrugarh city.

The event, organised by UCO Bank’s Jorhat Zone, was attended by branch managers and existing as well as prospective customers. Under the campaign, the bank is providing loans to eligible customers to help expand businesses, generate employment and support local economic growth.

Zonal Manager Narendra Pratap Singh, who inaugurated the programme, said UCO Bank remained committed to meeting the financial needs of its customers in Assam with promptness. He informed that during 2025-26, loans worth over Rs.255.24 crore had been sanctioned by the zone to 3,571 beneficiaries.

Phukan, in his address, said public sector banks were playing a crucial role in the country’s socio-economic development. He lauded UCO Bank for implementing government-backed schemes such as Jan Dhan, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and Mudra Yojana. He said banks were supporting small and medium entrepreneurs, students and farmers through concessional loans, thereby creating employment and aiding rural growth.

During the programme, sanction letters were handed over to beneficiaries under the campaign.
