Assam (Golaghat) retained the 3rd Assam–Nagaland Friendship Trophy after defeating Nagaland by 12 runs in a closely contested cricket match, reinforcing the spirit of unity and sportsmanship between the two neighbouring states.
Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA of 38 AC, paid a surprise courtesy visit during the event and interacted with the guest players. He lauded the organisers for initiating such a meaningful sporting event aimed at reviving the time-immemorial bond of friendship between the Ahom and Naga brothers, with cricket serving as a medium to strengthen people-to-people relations.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, and the Superintendent of Police, Wokha DEF, joined the post-match session. They appreciated the players and organisers for successfully conducting the historic event and assured that the matter would be taken up at the government level with an initiative to make the Assam-Nagaland Friendship Trophy an annual fixture.
The evening concluded with a para khana hosted by Thungbemo Patton, Project Director, DRDA Wokha, and Dr KN Zubemo, CVO Wokha, in honour of the participating teams and officials.
