Assam Rifles adopt 6 children at Meluri village

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): As part of  its Military Civic Action project, six children in the age group of 8-14 years have been adopted at Meluri village under Phek district by the 33 Assam Rifles.

“The children will be given financial and material assistance to pursue their studies,” according to PIB (Defence Wing) release.
In a simple ceremony organized on the occasion at Meluri COB, the children accompanied by their parents were given Rs. 150 each for their school fees and were also given free stationery materials.

The function was attended by Town Council chairman Shiteto and all NGO members of Meluri and Pochury area. The people of Meluri and Pochury expressed their gratitude to commandant 33 Assam Rifles and Coy Cdr of Meluri COB for taking up the noble cause and called for many more such welfare measures, the release added.
